THE IMPOSSIBLE ODDS OF MARCH MADNESS BRACKETS

A professor at the University of Cincinnati is actually teaching a class – for credit – on “bracketology.”

Professor Michael Magazine has 33 business students in the class for an entire semester, where they attempt to master the art of filling out an NCAA tournament bracket.

They run through mathematical models and handicapping – and then fill out the brackets and review how everyone did.

Good thing it’s a pass-fail class – because the odds of filling out a perfect bracket are more than 9.2 quintillion-to-one. That’s a nine, followed by 18 zeroes.

To put it in perspective, it's 500,000 times more than our $17 trillion national debt.

You have a better chance of hitting four holes-in-one in a single round of golf.

So … good luck? (Boston Herald)
