The United States lead all nations with the most medals: 104. A total of 46 of those medals were gold, thanks in large part to gymnastics, swimming, and our track stars.
Most telling: Of those 46 gold medals by the United States, 29 of them were earned by women. For the first time ever, the US team brought more women to the Olympics than men. They proved their dominance by climbing to the top of the medal podium 29 times. Congratulations.
