Almost exactly one week after David Letterman announced his retirement from late-night TV, he and CBS have officially named Stephen Colbert the heir to his Late Show throne. According to a CBS press release, Colbert has been signed to a five-year deal, effective when Letterman retires from his show in 2015. Colbert's Late Show premiere date likewise will not be cemented until a timetable is determined for Letterman's exit. "Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career," Colbert said in the statement. "I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps.. now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth."
Celebs React

Jon Stewart: “He’s done an amazing job with just that very narrow cast of character, but he’s got a lot more he can show. He’s got some skill sets that are really applicable, interviewing-wise, but also he’s a really, really good actor and also an excellent improvisational comedian. He’s also got great writing skills. He’s got a lot of the different capacities. Being able to expand upon [those] would be exciting."

Selena Gomez has parted ways with her mother and stepfather -- at least when it comes to her professional life. TMZ reports that the 21-year-old pop star axed Mandy and Brian Teefey last month, permanently relieving them of all duties related to managing her career. Selena's parents had managed her since her big break at Disney. The gossip site claims that while the family remains close, her rental units are not happy with Selena's decision. However, another source played down the rumors of drama when speaking to E! News: "They decided it's better to focus on being a family than talking about business all the time."

Cory and Topanga are back! The first trailer for Girl Meets World, the long-awaited Boy Meets World spinoff is finally here. It shows Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga's (Danielle Fishel) daughter Riley and her friend trying to sneak out of a window, only to be stopped by Cory. Riley questions how long she will have to live in her dad's world, to which Cory responds, "Until you make it yours." Topanga then enters the clip, promising Riley that she and Cory will always be there for their daughter. This is Fishel and Ben Savage's first official onscreen reunion since Boy Meets World wrapped in 2000.

There might be reason for actress Jennifer Lawrence to start preparing for another X-Men Flick. According to reports by Entertainment Weekly, 20th Century Fox is considering a series of spin-off films, one of which could focus on Lawrence’s character, Mystique. “There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it,” says producer Lauren Shuler Donner. While Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is the only character to step out on his own so far, Donner says other characters being considered include Gambit and Deadpool.
