The sci-fi flop After Earth starring Will Smith and his son Jaden has been crowned the worst movie of 2013 by the film site Recalling the film Battlefield Earth starring John Travolta, another epic disaster, the site notes: "In 2000, John Travolta laid down the challenge: 'You will never, EVER make a big budget sci-fi vanity project with a two-word title, the second word being 'Earth,' as colossally awful as the one I have made.' Thirteen years later Will Smith beat his challenge." Second place was the SyFy channel's television movie Sharknado. Rounding out the top five: Grown Ups 2, Movie 43 and Iron Man 3.
The latest subject of Charlie Sheen's wrath? Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson. In response to the Robertson patriarch's controversial remarks on homosexuality, Sheen posted a Twitter rant directed at him, which appeared to be written in the form of free verse poetry and included a photo of a pigeon that Sheen presumably mistook for a duck. "Your statements were and are abhorrently and mendaciously unforgivable," he wrote on Saturday. "You have offended and hurt so many dear friends of mine, who DO NOT have the voice or the outreach that I do... You are now in the crosshairs of a MaSheen style media beat down." Hmmm... who would you put your money on?
Shoppers at the Walmart in Tewksbury, Massachusetts on Friday night got the shock of their lives when Beyoncé showed up to spread some holiday cheer. Queen Bey got on the loudspeaker to announce, "I want to give everyone a gift. For everyone in the store right now, the first $50 of your holiday gifts are on me. Merry, merry Christmas from Beyoncé!" The R&B star handed out a total of 750 $50 gift cards to shoppers. Beyoncé even did a little shopping of her own -- she purchased a doll for her daughter Blue Ivy and a copy of her just-released self-titled album.
