One Direction's new album Midnight Memories debuts at the top of the Billboard 200, selling 546,000 units in its opening week. It marks a history-making moment for the boy band -- they're the first group to have its first three albums debut at #1. They're also the first group to reach #1 with its first three albums since 1967. With Midnight Memories, One Direction became the third pop group to earn multiple half-million sales week since tracking began in 1991. The only other two groups to have more than one album sell over 500,00 copies in one week are One Direction's boy band predecessors, the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync.
Blink-182 have confirmed that they will release a new full-length album of new material next year, their first since 2009's Neighborhoods. The trio will headline the 2014 Reading and Leeds Festivals in August, and singer Mark Hoppus tells BBC Radio 1 that they'll have new song to play by then: "We are coming with new material," he promises. "We go into the studio after the holidays, and the goal is to have an album out in time for the festival.
The Sunday World and Daily Star claim Justin Bieber has instructed his guards to watch him while he sleeps. A source tells the sites, "Justin can't be alone at night right now. He is paranoid about fans breaking into his room, and he hears noises all the time. It freaks him out. As well as the ever-present guard in his room and the one outside, he also has two on standby to take over when his men need breaks. All of the burly guys are around 6ft 5in tall and weigh around 250lb. He wants an army of giants protecting him. Justin is now used to having a guard watch him sleep and he wants the arrangement to continue after the tour finishes."
