Katy Perry opens up in a new interview with Billboard magazine about her boyfriend John Mayer. "He literally is a genius, as is evident from his songwriting," she gushes. "'I always tell him, 'Darling, you know I'm going to have to give your mind to science after you've passed, because we're going to have to understand how all these sparks work.'" Perry also boasted that it's not just Mayer's music that makes him brilliant: "We'll be in bed, and he'll be doing the crossword puzzle. Every night, he tries to finish it in under 10 minutes."

Jennifer Lawrence is a girl who loves to indulge her goofy side, and she's just filmed a cameo in the sequel to one of her favorite flicks, Dumb and Dumber. The Oscar winner plays a younger version of Kathleen Turner's character. Lawrence shouldn't have had a hard time getting in character -- she's gone on record saying she knows every word of the original movie.

ABC is eyeing Modern Family for a spinoff. Fresh off its fourth Emmy win for outstanding comedy series, producers met Friday to discuss what a potential "Modern Family" spin-off would look like, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. It's still early in the process and nothing is set in stone. However, among the ideas brandied about during the meeting would be to spin-off Rob Riggle's overconfident real estate agent Gil Thorpe -- who in two season four episodes was Phil's (Ty Burrell) nemesis and hit on Julie Bowen's Claire during her brief employment.
