With the Ms United States competition just 40 days away, my ears perked up when the TODAY Show aired 60 Second Shape Up this morning. These strategies can help you increase your calorie burn and in turn, rev up your metabolism.
1.) Protein Pack Your Meals – You get an uptick in metabolism with all food but the greatest metabolic burn results from eating protein rich food like chicken and lentils.
Additional easy swaps: Choose Greek yogurt over regular yogurt & quinoa over white or brown rice. Both of the aforementioned swaps will put twice as much protein in your diet.
2) Increase the heat of your food with hot sauce and hot peppers. Capsaicin is the ingredient helping to burn more calories after a meal.
3) Embrace ginger and green tea. Both slightly rev your system.
4) Try a Super Charge Smoothie
5) Finally, “laugh your butt off.” A bout of the giggles will increase your metabolism by 10-20%.
