Woman Gives Birth to 13-Pound Baby Without C-Section

  • Germany has a new holder for the title of "heaviest baby." The jumbo-sized baby Jasleen was born at University Hospital in Leipzig on July 26, weighing in at 13.47 pounds, and measuring 22.6 inches long -- and she was delivered without the help of a C-section. The medical term for babies born weighing more than 8 pounds, 13 ounces is "fetal macrosomia," and heavy babies are often attributed to maternal obesity and diabetes, among other factors. In Jasleen's case, doctors said her size is due to an undiagnosed case of gestational diabetes, reports the German paper Der Spiegel, which adds that both baby and Mom are doing well, though Jasleen remains in the hospital.

So Taylor Swift had it just about right

  • So it turns our Taylor Swift was right on the money with her song "22". Check this out.....

  • A new study finds that people are happiest at age 23 and then again at 69. Researchers say it's because people in their 20s are overly-optimistic about their future and "think that they will be the ones who don’t get divorced, who have money and nice jobs and healthy children." Those ideas, however, can lead to misery if dreams aren't fulfilled, which might explain why well-being hits a low in the mid-50s. Fortunately, people get another boost in their 60s, most likely because they've come to peace with lost opportunities.

Royal Baby Names
J

James has emerged as a clear favourite for the name of the little Prince last night – at least among the betting public.

At 2/1, it overtook the earlier leader among boys’ names, George, which is now 5/1 as is Henry – Prince Harry’s real name.

Most punters had clearly expected a girl, with Alexandra the favourite at 7/4.

Bookmakers Coral said the royal birth was the biggest non-sporting betting event in the company’s history with cash staked on everything including hair colour and weight.

The name the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge choose will set a trend for a generation of babies, with other new parents having a boy anxious to copy them.

James has links to both families, but William already has a cousin called James - the Earl and Countess of Wessex's son Viscount Severn.

George has been the name of six Kings of England and was the Sovereign name of the Queen’s father, George VI, whose actual first name was Albert.

It is also one of Prince Charles’ middle names.

From Williams’s side of the family both his father’s name, which the Prince of Wales share with Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, and his grandfather’s are likely favourites.

At the bookies however, Charles did not even hit top ten with William Hill, and Phillip-betters will take home 40 times the money if they win.

The Cambridges are also likely to take inspiration from Kate's side of the family, possibly honouring her father Michael, or picking Francis, which is both her father and her grandfather's middle name. [related]

Princess Diana's middle name was Frances, the feminine form of the name, meaning William could honour his mother's memory through his son.

Less likely are older Middleton family names such as Kate's maternal grandfather, who was called Ronald, however Thomas appears several times on both sides of Kate's family.

The announcement that the Duchess was in labour sent punters to the betting shops, and bookmaker Paddy Power said they took £390,000 in bets in the three hours after this morning's news.

Ice Cream because I Like to Argue
  • What Your Favorite Ice Cream Flavor Says About You--Mint Chocolate Chip is right on for me....

  • To celebrate National Ice Cream Month, Baskin-Robbins hired an expert to decode personality traits from popular ice cream flavors. "We uncovered quite a few surprising finds when investigating what a person’s favorite ice cream flavor says about their personality," said Dr. Alan Hirsh, founder of Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago. "For instance, we found that people who prefer Rainbow Sherbet are more pessimistic than you would think, in spite of the flavor’s bright taste profile, and that those who prefer Rocky Road are actually very good listeners."

Find out what your favorite flavor says about your personality:

    • Vanilla: You’re more likely to be impulsive, easily suggestible and an idealist.
    • Chocolate: You’re more likely to be dramatic, lively, charming, flirtatious, seductive and gullible.
    • Strawberry: You’re more likely to be a tolerant, devoted and an introvert.
    • Mint Chocolate Chip: You’re more likely to be argumentative, frugal and cautious.
    • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: You’re more likely to be ambitious, competitive and a visionary.
    • Pralines ‘n Cream: You’re more likely to be loving, supportive and prefer to avoid the spotlight.
    • Jamoca: You’re more likely to be scrupulous, conscientious and a moral perfectionist.
    • Chocolate Chip: You’re more likely to be generous, competent and a go-getter.
    • Rainbow Sherbet: You’re more likely to be analytic, decisive and pessimistic.

Sorry Ladies

Sorry, ladies: Adam Levine is officially off the market. The Voice judge, 33, is engaged to Victoria's Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo. Levine began dating the 24-year-old model about a year ago, shortly after his split from Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Anna Vyalitsyna. However, Levine and Prinsloo's romance experienced a bump on the road, and the pair split several months ago before recently deciding to reconcile. Interestingly, during their short-lived breakup, the Maroon 5 frontman was linked to (yep, another model) Nina Agdal, who joined Levine on a trip to Mexico just last month.

Tell me this isn't you
  • 1 in 5 New Parents Think Their Baby Is Ugly, Survey Finds

  • A new poll finds that a fifth of parents think their baby is ugly when first laying eyes on them. Of the 18 percent who admitted being disappointed by their child's looks, more than half discussed their feelings with their partners, while only eight percent spoke to anyone else about it. "My daughter is three now and she is gorgeous but when she arrived she was the most disgusting little thing I'd ever seen," one father revealed in the survey. A majority of parents do, however, fall in love with their baby at first sight. Eighty-two percent say they thought their new baby was the most beautiful thing they've ever seen.

Why to always have Password Protection on Your Phone
  • Toddler Buys Car on eBay While Playing With Dad's Phone

  • A 14-month-old girl from Portland, Oregon bought a car off eBay while playing on her dad's phone. Paul Stoute says that his daughter accidentally opened his eBay app and made the winning bid on a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite. The price: $225. "Fortunately, she didn't buy the $38,000 Porsche," Stoute said. Given its low price and humorous origins, the family decided to keep the car and have it fixed up before Sorella's 16th birthday. It is currently being stored behind the home of Sorella's grandmother. Stoute has also added password protection to his phone.

Facebook Jealousy Hits Smart People the Hardest

  • A new study claims that intelligent people are more likely to experience jealousy while using Facebook. Researchers asked college students to imagine a scenario in which they discovered a message in their partner’s Facebook inbox from a person of the opposite sex saying, "What are you up to later?" Interestingly, those with higher GPAs reported the most intense feelings of jealousy. Researchers suggest that students with higher GPAs are more conscientious, show greater self-control and tend to be perfectionists, and that "the perceived infidelity likely upsets their attempts at perfection across the board."
