When they first divorced, their total assets reached tens of millions of dollars. He thought that they split it fairly, until he learned that her shoes were worth another million.
However, Beth Shak was able to provide to the court judge "detailed billing statements regarding the shoes" which were signed by her ex-husband. Realizing that his case was sunk, he asked his attorney to immediately drop the lawsuit. Beth said (quote) "It was pretty obvious he knew he was going to lose. Dan looked like a buffoon."
