*IT’S TOUGH TO CARE ABOUT A SALARY DISPUTE WHEN YOU KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT’LL END: THE CAST OF "MODERN FAMILY", THE #1 SITCOM ON TV, NOMINATED FOR 14 EMMYS THIS WEEK, HAS SUED TO VOID THEIR CONTRACT, AFTER REJECTING THE LATEST SALARY OFFER FROM 20th CENTURY FOX TV -- THEY WEREN’T “OFFENDED” BY THE OFFER ($200,000 PER EPISODE FOR THE UPCOMING 4th SEASON) – THEY JUST KNOW THEY’RE IN A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME POSITION TO DO BETTER – IT’S THE REASON THE CAST OF “FRIENDS” GOT A MILLION BUCKS AN EPISODE THOSE LAST 2 SEASONS – ED O'NEILL, THE BIGGEST NAME WHEN THE SHOW STARTED, CUT A SEPARATE DEAL THAT PAYS HIM MORE THAN HIS CO-STARS
– BUT YESTERDAY, HE JOINED THE OTHER ACTORS TO SHOW SOLIDARITY – O’NEILL DOESN’T GET ENOUGH CREDIT, BUT HE’S DONE SOMETHING VERY RARE ON “MODERN FAMILY” – FOR 11 SEASONS, HE STARRED AS ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC CHARACTERS IN TV HISTORY, AL BUNDY
– ACTORS SO IDENTIFIED WITH ONE CHARACTER ALMOST NEVER BREAK OUT OF IT – SO IT’S A CREDIT TO ED O’NEILL’S TALENT THAT HE MANAGED TO FREE HIMSELF FROM THE SHACKLES OF THE GREAT AL BUNDY…
FLIRTY: Women Always Win Negotations with Flirtation
(BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA) A university study into “feminine charm” found that a little flirtation goes a long way in winning a negotiation. Men cannot resist a woman’s flirtations.
The study looked four different ways at women playing the flirt card in negotiations. Each time she won. In particular if the “flirtatiousness is perceived as above and beyond friendliness”. So it pays dividends to be both playful and obvious about it.
Census figures for 2011 will be released this fall: The official poverty rate will climb as high as 15.7%, which is the highest level since 1965
